The Mule 4010 Trans4x4 Diesel is the ultimate tool in your productivity arsenal. Key to this productivity is the Trans4x4’s convertible design, going from a two-person long-bed cargo hauler into a four-person transport in just a few simple steps. Plus there’s the peace of mind that comes from having a diesel engine, a design renowned for its long-haul durability and reliability. This powerful and torquey three-cylinder engine teams up with selectable four-wheel drive, electric power steering (EPS) system, a fully automatic transmission and locking rear differential to make the Trans4x4 Diesel an outstanding choice for practically any utility vehicle role. Producing 38.3 lb.-ft. of torque @ 2,800 rpm, this 953cc engine has enough low-end pulling power to tackle the heaviest workloads.

This diesel engine is matched to the Kawasaki Automatic Power-Drive System (KAPS), a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that features high and low range ratios, plus reverse. The KAPS system offers the ability to keep engine rpm in the most efficient range across a broad spectrum of vehicle speed, load, and terrain, and facilitates ample pulling power and quick acceleration.

Large torque converters maximize the CVT’s belt engagement area for optimal heat dissipation, strength and durability. Wear is minimized through the use of a thick, strong drive belt and sheaves with high silicon-type material. Tuned specifically to accommodate higher payloads, the KAPS’ durability is further aided by cooling the torque converter with filtered air from a special air cleaner featuring an easily replaceable element and an efficient fan that moves a large volume of cooling air through the CVT. A high-flow cover also helps lower CVT temperatures while providing superb splash protection and resistance to water intrusion.

This reliable system transmits power to a dual-mode locking rear differential through a dependable, low-maintenance shaft drive. The Trans4x4 Diesel also sports a limited slip front differential and two-speed transfer case for the four-wheel drive system, allowing the operator to engage four-wheel drive for extra traction and pulling power in difficult conditions.
A cyclone-type Donaldson® air filter system with a replaceable paper element supplies the engine with clean air. This efficient design needs less frequent cleaning, even with repeated use in extremely dusty off-road conditions. To help the filter stay clean and last longer – especially in the rugged conditions for which this Kawasaki was built – Kawasaki engineers the system so that engine and converter cooling air are both drawn from the top of the cab frame, where there’s less dust.

The wheelbase of the Mule 4010 Trans4x4 Diesel may be 85.2 inches, but it still offers a tight turning radius and excellent rough terrain capabilities. Electric power steering (EPS) helps make the low-effort rack-and-pinion steering system easy to turn. The EPS reduces steering effort by up to 30 percent, and is a significant boost at low speeds in four-wheel drive. It uses input from vehicle speed and torque sensors to determine how much assistance is provided by the system’s electric motor and also harnesses the electric motor’s inertia to dampen much of the bump steer and kickback associated with front wheel impacts. The system works immediately after the engine is started, but doesn’t create a power drain on the engine.

With the forward/reverse, high/low-range gear lever and the four-wheel drive selector all within easy reach on the dash, drivers can focus more attention on negotiating rough or fragile terrain. The operator-friendly Mule 4010 Trans4x4 Diesel dashboard also features a digital hour meter, horn, speedometer, a 12-volt, 10-amp DC outlet and a push-button switch for the headlights. A parking brake and coolant temperature warning light in plain view, dual sealed glove boxes plus retractable rear seat belts and a padded rear-passenger grab handle round out the cab features.
Maintenance chores are simplified with an air restrictor gauge in the cab to indicate when the air filter needs to be cleaned or replaced, and the fuse box and oil dipstick are conveniently located underneath the seat for quick access.

With its modern and rugged bodywork, this four-wheel drive utility vehicle is a natural in tough work environments. Its body panels are manufactured from durable, color-molded plastic that helps hide minor scuffs and scratches. The extendable cab is surrounded by the large-diameter steel tube frame structure.

The front hood can be opened with the pull of a dash-mounted knob and allows access to a deep storage space equipped with convenient D-rings to help secure cargo. Additionally, two levers make opening and closing the tailgate a secure and easy process. The convenience factor on the Trans4x4 Diesel extends beyond easy-access latches or controls; it also boasts owner-friendly features like the winch-ready tabs located under the front grille, which greatly simplify the winch-mounting process.

A smooth-riding MacPherson strut front suspension works in conjunction with a heavy duty DeDion-type leaf spring rear suspension system to provide the Trans4x4 with a extended-bed 1,100-pound cargo capacity, or a 400-pound cargo capacity when in four-passenger mode. Large 23-inch low-pressure tires provide additional ride comfort, great traction and help minimize impact over a variety of terrain. Effective stopping power is provided by four hydraulically operated, self-adjusting, sealed drum brakes designed to resist contamination from water, mud and other debris.

In addition to its stellar payload capacity, the Mule 4010 Trans4x4 Diesel utility vehicle can tow up to 1,200 pounds with an optional draw bar. Other popular accessories include an enclosed cab, cab heater, snow plow, and soft or hard tops. These and many other Authentic Kawasaki Accessories are available through Kawasaki dealers.

It also yields a wide drive ratio spread for ample pulling power and quick acceleration.

Large torque converters maximize belt engagement area for optimal heat dissipation, strength and durability. Wear is reduced by the use of a strong and beefy drive belt and sheaves with high silicon-type material. Durability is further aided by cooling the torque converter with filtered air via a special air cleaner that uses an easily replaceable filter element and an efficient intake cooling fan to draw sufficient air into the CVT. A high-flow cover also helps cool the CVT while providing superb splash protection and waterproofing.

This highly reliable drive system uses a dependable, low-maintenance shaft drive to transmit power to a dual-mode rear differential that can be locked to maximize traction, or unlocked to minimize ground disturbance when making tight turns. The operator can also engage four-wheel drive for added traction and pulling power in difficult conditions.

A cyclone-type Donaldson® air filter system with a replaceable paper element supplies the engine with clean air. This efficient design needs less frequent cleaning, even with repeated use in extremely dusty off-road conditions. The electric power steering (EPS) system offers a more controlled ride by reducing steering effort at low speeds and harnessing its electric motor’s inertia to dampen much of the bump steer and kickback associated with front wheel impacts. Offering a significant boost at low speeds and in four-wheel drive, the EPS system uses input from vehicle speed and torque sensors to determine how much assistance is needed from the system’s electric motor.

The Mule 4010 4x4 Diesel’s straightforward, user friendly controls allow drivers to focus more attention on negotiating rough or fragile terrain. The forward/reverse, high/low-range gear lever and four-wheel drive selector are all within easy reach on the dash. The coolant temperature warning light is easy to see, and a push-button control activates the headlights. Other standard features include an hour meter, a horn on the dash, a gauge on the fuel tank and an intake restriction gauge to indicate when the air filter needs to be cleaned or replaced.

The Mule 4010 4x4’s liquid-cooled 617cc V-twin engine is managed by a digital Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and is fed by a fuel injection system that compensates for variations in atmospheric pressure, engine and air temperature. This combination results in consistent starts and ultra-precise fuel metering, both of which help reduce fuel consumption and limit emissions. An automatic fast idle speed control activates when the engine is cold, eliminating the need for a manual choke. The ECU also regulates top engine speed, which means the Mule doesn’t need a mechanical governor.

This powerful V-twin engine is mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that features both high and low range, plus a reverse gear. Power is transmitted through a dependable, low-maintenance shaft drive system to a dual-mode rear differential that can be locked to maximize traction, or unlocked to improve handling and minimize ground disturbance when negotiating tight turns. Mule 4010 drivers can also engage four-wheel drive for extra traction in tricky conditions.

The Mule 4010 4x4’s rack-and-pinion steering is assisted by an electric power steering (EPS) system that can reduce turning effort by up to 30 percent while offering a significant boost at low speeds in four-wheel drive. The EPS system automatically determines how much assistance is needed using input from vehicle speed and torque sensors.
The forward/reverse, high/low-range and the four-wheel drive selectors are all within easy reach on the dash so drivers can focus more attention on negotiating rough or tricky terrain. The coolant temperature warning light is easy to see, and a push-button control activates the headlights. Other standard features include an hour meter, horn and air restrictor gauge to indicate when the air filter needs to be cleaned or replaced. The fuse box and oil dipstick are located beneath the seat for quick access.

A roomy cab is surrounded by the Mule 4010 4x4’s large-diameter steel tube frame structure. With its rugged and modern bodywork, this four-wheel drive utility is a natural in the tough pickup truck work environment. Its body panels are manufactured from a durable, color-molded plastic that helps hide minor scuffs and scratches. The front hood can be opened with the pull of a dash-mounted knob and allows access to a deep storage space equipped with convenient D-rings to help secure cargo. Additionally, two levers make opening and closing the tailgate a secure and easy process.

The convenience factor on the Mule 4010 4x4 extends beyond easy-access latches or controls; the machine also features owner-friendly touches like the winch-ready tabs located under the front grille, which greatly simplify the winch-mounting process.

The Mule 4010 4x4 chassis includes a ladder-type frame riding on a DeDion-type rear leaf-spring suspension designed to carry heavy loads yet provide a smooth ride when the cargo bed is empty. MacPherson struts handle front suspension duty and provide an optimum balance of comfort and load capacity. Effective stopping power is provided by four hydraulically operated, self-adjusting, sealed drum brakes designed to resist contamination from water, mud and other debris. Large 23-inch low-pressure tires provide a comfortable ride, superb traction and help minimize impact over a variety of terrain.

The Mule 4010 4x4 can carry 800 pounds in its steel cargo bed and is capable of towing up to 1,200 pounds with an optional draw bar. Other popular accessories include an enclosed cab, cab heater, snow plow and soft or hard tops. These and many other Authentic Kawasaki Accessories are available through Kawasaki dealers.

2012 Kawasaki Mule 610 4x4 Review

Through the Tough Stuff with Selectable 4WD

The Mule™ 610 4x4 is a standard Mule 600 with a big advantage: selectable four-wheel drive. The added traction of 4WD, combined with the 610 4x4’s go-anywhere personality, make it a true workhorse on the job or at play, and one that costs far less to purchase and own than you’d imagine. An added bonus is the Mule 610 4x4’s easy transportability, as it fits easily into the bed of a full-sized pickup. This versatility and affordability make the 610 4x4 a serious bang-for-the-buck utility machine.

When the going gets tough, the going requires 4-wheel drive. So it’s great to know that the ultimate job site companion, the Mule™ 610 4x4 offers an extra boost of functionality due to its selectable four-wheel drive. It includes all the great, easy-to-use features of the Mule 600, so the 610 4x4 represents a great value – it is a truly versatile and durable utility vehicle. And because it easily fits into the bed of a full-sized pickup truck, the Mule 610 4x4 is easy to transport to remote job sites.
The Mule 610 4x4 starts off on the right foot with its dependable single-cylinder four-stroke engine and continuously variable transmission (CVT). The large-diameter steel tube frame is mated to an independent front suspension and a swing-axle rear suspension. True to its practical nature, there is plenty of user-friendly hardware, including automotive-type controls, a gear selector within easy reach on the dashboard, two large cup holders and a passenger-side glove box and grab handle. More storage space is located beneath the hinged front hood.

The Mule 610 4x4’s durable air-cooled, single-cylinder 401cc four-stroke engine maintains an ideal operating temperature with the help of an efficient cooling fan. An enrichening system that partially opens the throttle during ignition makes for easy engine starts. It can be started in forward or reverse gear, provided the brake is applied. It also utilizes rear wheel mud flaps to minimize mud and debris clogging the engine area.

Owners will surely appreciate the knowledge that the Mule 610 4x4 comes equipped with an efficient and durable CVT along with a long-lasting drive belt coupled with a dependable, low-maintenance shaft drive to best deliver the engine’s power and get it out of slippery situations. Perhaps the most useful aspect of the Mule 610 4x4 is the selectable four-wheel drive system that makes this vehicle virtually unstoppable thanks to the high- and low-range forward and reverse gears. A lockable dual-mode rear differential and a limited-slip front differential expand its traction abilities in adverse terrain.

The Mule 610 4x4 rides on a MacPherson strut front suspension, while rear suspension duties are handled by a unit swing-axle. Triple-sealed hydraulic drum brakes at all four wheels provide ample stopping power, and large 24-inch tires provide improved off-road handling. A plastic front differential/axle guard and steel rear differential guard are standard, and help protect important powertrain components.

Bright 35-watt headlights mean the job can start before sunrise or continue after sunset. Increasing its work versatility is the 400-pound-capacity tilting cargo bed that features secure, easy to fasten tailgate latches. The Mule 610 4x4 can tow up to 1,100 pounds with an optional Kawasaki trailer hitch installed. Popular accessories include an enclosed cab, snow plow, winch and soft or hard tops. These and many other Authentic Kawasaki Accessories are available through Kawasaki dealers.

2011 Kawasaki Teryx 750 FI 4x4 Sport

Looking for the maximum-performance RUV? Look no further

Think of the Teryx™ 750 FI 4x4 Sport as the hot rod of Kawasaki’s Recreation Utility Vehicle (RUV) family. The Teryx Sport is ready for serious off-road fun right out of the box, with clues to its substantial performance in plain sight – lightweight alloy wheels controlled by high-end multi-adjustable, gas-charged shocks. The uprated suspension and wheels extend the Sport’s off-road ability by delivering a high degree of wheel and chassis control even through seriously rough terrain. So whether you’re hammering along a rocky, bumpy desert two-track or hightailing it on a narrow, bumpy trail in the woods, the Sport makes short work of the nasty terrain so drivers can focus on the fun.

It all starts with the Teryx Sport’s smooth and powerful fuel-injected V-twin engine and sport-tuned chassis, a technology package that launched the model to the top of the sport-oriented Recreational Utility Vehicle heap when it first appeared. Upgraded last year in several ways, including new front-end styling, a forward-tilting hood, improved engine cooling, an even sturdier tilting bed out back and a host of detail improvements, the Teryx Sport is sure to remain a favorite.

Durable and reliable power is the name of the RUV game, and nobody can touch the Teryx Sport’s 749cc 90-degree eight-valve V-twin. This engine is not only plenty powerful, its also supremely smooth thanks to the 90-degree configuration’s perfect primary balance. This design offers unmatched smoothness at any rpm - and a great exhaust note that sets the Teryx apart from lesser RUVs. Cooling system mods made last year – a larger cooling fan for more airflow and a larger diameter hose for more coolant flow – make the engine even more reliable.

The Teryx’s high-end suspension units are easy to appreciate even when you’re not moving. The aluminum-bodied gas-charged piggyback-reservoir shocks are fully adjustable for spring preload, compression damping and rebound damping for maximum tunability and control of its lightweight aluminum wheels. Each wheel is a whopping 2 pounds lighter a standard Teryx wheel, and this 8-pound difference in unsprung weight is easy to feel at speed.

The Teryx Sport’s advanced digital fuel-injection system includes functions for automatic elevation compensation, automatic idle adjustment and easy, choke-free starting via a sophisticated array of sensors for inlet air pressure, throttle position, crankshaft position, rpm, water temperature and a vehicle down sensor. There’s also an ignition cut-out, which won’t allow the Teryx Sport to be ridden away when the parking brake is engaged. This braking system technology complements the Teryx’s CVT Belt Protection System, which, among other good things, automatically retards ignition timing if the system detects engine operation at high rpm for more than two seconds while the rear wheels are motionless (i.e., the belt is slipping), and warns the rider via a flashing belt warning lamp on the dash.

All that electronically enhanced performance is perfectly packaged within an advanced chassis that’s narrow enough to navigate the gnarliest trails (and fit in a standard pickup bed), yet wide enough to offer a roomy cab and an excellent ride. The wide-track design frame uses large-diameter, thin-walled tubing to combine tremendous rigidity with light weight. And the upper frame adds great looks and protection, while providing enough room inside to fit two full-sized adults in a comfortable but supportive pair of bucket seats with retractable three-point seat belts.

Once comfortably strapped in, the rider can choose two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive with the flip of a switch, and Kawasaki’s super-efficient continuously variable transmission takes it from there, to practically anywhere you feel like going. A cockpit-adjustable variable front differential control even lets you fine tune front-end traction.

Long-travel independent suspension, those fully adjustable gas-charged shocks at all four corners, a rear stabilizer bar and mid-ship engine placement all work together to tame tough trails, while a high-performance long A-arm double-wishbone suspension design reduces camber changes for sharp steering at all times. When it’s time to slow down, dual discs up front and a high-tech sealed oil-bath braking unit out back get the job done with power to spare, while Kawasaki Engine Braking Control uses clever electronics to assist with engine braking when driving down hills. Custom 26-inch Maxxis tires designed for the Teryx’s characteristics are the final ingredient in its amazingly potent handling package.

A large selection of authentic Kawasaki Accessories are available through Kawasaki dealers for the 2011 Teryx 750 FI 4x4 Sport RUV. As with all off-highway vehicle recreation, Kawasaki encourages RUV drivers to drive responsibly and to respect the environment.

o Specific Teryx-sized throttle bodies and optimized ignition timing have maximized low and mid-range torque and ensure excellent response at high rpm

Kawasaki Automatic Power-drive System CVT

o Featuring high and low ranges, plus reverse, this advanced continuously variable transmission provides a direct feel from the engine and instantaneous acceleration - ideal characteristics for sport riding
o Transmission utilizes a high-grade, super-durable belt designed to handle the high output of the engine. The drive converter shaft is hard chrome-finished for durability
o The CVT Belt Protection System prevents tire freewheel, improves rocky terrain performance and reduces belt overloading by adding Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) data to the system
o Unnecessary belt wear is minimized with a system that reduces engine speed if the engine operates at high rpm for more than two seconds while the rear wheels are motionless
o A large intake duct, located to keep water and debris out, provides plenty of cooling air to the CVT
o Heat shielding on the exhaust pipe below the intake duct keeps intake temperature down

Sport-focused Suspension

o High-performance, aluminum bodied, fully adjustable, piggyback reservoir, gas-charged Kayaba shocks provide excellent fade-resistant damping performance in the toughest conditions while providing 7.5 inches of plush, controlled wheel travel
o Independent rear suspension provides an ideal balance of rider comfort and handling at high speeds
o Rear torsion bar helps minimize body roll

Lightweight Aluminum Wheels and Large 26-inch Tires

o Lightweight cast aluminum wheels offer great looks and cut unsprung weight by 2 pounds per wheel
o 26-inch Maxxis tires developed specifically for the Teryx help provide great traction and handling

Selectable Four-wheel Drive / Variable Front Differential Control

o Selecting two
o or four-wheel drive is as easy as pressing a switch located on the dash; electrically selectable 2WD/4WD system engages instantly
o Limited-slip front differential reduces steering effort under normal four-wheel drive operation, while Variable Front Differential Control permits the rider to distribute torque equally to left and right front wheels for maximum traction via a hand lever located between the seats
o Rear gear case keeps rear wheels locked and turning together for maximum forward thrust

Wide-body Chassis

o Large-diameter thin-walled tubular steel frame combines high rigidity, light weight and mid-engine placement - a perfect combination for performance riding
o Tubular cab frame meets SAE J1194, 7.1.1, 7.1.2, 7.4, and 7.5, requirements as a roll-over protective structure (ROPS)
o Performance-focused suspension is designed for high-performance riding
o Wide track helps provide a great ride, but unit is narrow enough to fit in a standard pickup truck bed
o Chassis has 11.6 inches of ground clearance, which strikes a perfect compromise between great low-CG handling and the ability to clear tough off-road obstacles
o Narrow frame concept maximizes the length of the front and rear suspension's lower A-arms for excellent road-handling performance and minimal geometry change throughout the suspension's travel
o Chassis serves up a near-perfect balance of bump absorption and taut steering
o A hinged, forward-tilting front hood and headlight assembly highlights aggressive styling and allows quick access to the radiator and front suspension components for easy maintenance and suspension tuning
o The tilt bed's frame is engineered with extra rigidity for a high degree of durability

High-performance Brakes

o Dual front 200mm disc brakes gripped by rigid-mount 27mm twin-piston calipers provide powerful, fade-free braking and solid feel. The discs are tucked inside the wheels, where they're protected from debris
o Kawasaki's sealed, oil-bathed multi-disc rear brake system provides maximum stopping power in almost any condition along with reduced maintenance thanks to its being completely sealed from outside contaminants
o The sealed rear brake's compact design contributes to excellent ground clearance

Tilting Cargo Bed

o With a 500-pound capacity, tilting cargo bed, tie-down hooks in all four corners, a standard cargo net and generous dimensions, the Teryx is as functional as it is fun to ride
o Gas-assist struts help facilitate bed cleaning and maintenance
o Reinforced bed frame offers maximum rigidity for excellent durability

Ergonomics

o Making maximum use of its cockpit space, the Teryx provides plenty of shoulder and legroom to comfortably accommodate two adults
o Form-fitting bucket seats and retractable three-point seatbelts help provide a comfortable ride
o The padded steering wheel is positioned low for sport riding and provides additional driver protection

Multi-function Digital Display

o Standard on all models, the Multi-function Display includes a digital speedometer (mph or kph), clock, dual trip meters plus 2WD/4WD indicator, water temperature and fuel-injection warning indicators, digital fuel gauge, hour meter, parking brake indicator, CVT belt warning, neutral, reverse and low oil pressure warning lights

Bodywork

o Thermoplastic Olefin bodywork has a great-looking high-gloss finish that's more scratch-resistant than polyethylene
o so it stays great-looking longer
o Engine and undercarriage guards provide maximum protection from rocks and debris
o Teryx's battery and electric parts are located higher and further away from water and harm's way
o Dual 40-watt headlights and 8/27-watt dual taillights mean you'll see and be seen

Range / Transportability

o Large, 7.4-gal. (28L) fuel tank and excellent fuel efficiency provide the range campers and hunters need to get deep into the bush - and back again
o Even with its wide track and large tires, the Teryx is compact enough to fit in the bed of most full-size pickup trucks
